Hew Notes privacy

If you subscribe to Hew Notes, we use your email address to send language development news, engineering articles, releases and community projects. The newsletter is optional; you can read the site and its RSS feeds without subscribing.

What we keep

EmailOctopus manages the mailing list, confirmation emails, delivery and unsubscribe. We send it your email address, the time of your signup, the page you signed up from and the version of the consent notice you accepted. It records your subscription status and subsequent confirmation or withdrawal. We do not add your name or send your IP address to the mailing list.

The signup endpoint runs on Cloudflare. It uses your IP address briefly to limit repeated requests. The application does not log your email address, form body or provider response bodies. Cloudflare also processes request metadata to operate the site and may retain standard network and Worker logs under the account’s settings. Your choices

You join after following the confirmation link in your email. Each newsletter includes a free unsubscribe link; you can leave without an account or password. Your address remains suppressed after unsubscribing so that another signup or import does not put you back on the list.

We keep active subscriptions while you want the newsletter. Consent evidence and a minimal suppression record remain after withdrawal to honour your choice and demonstrate consent. We review pending contacts and retention periodically. Open and click tracking are disabled for the welcome email and newsletter campaigns; delivery failures, complaints and withdrawals are still recorded by the provider. We do not sell addresses or use them for advertising.
